Our Faith
We confess the canonical books of the Old and New Testaments to be the inspired Word of God and the only rule and norm of faith and practice.
We accept the three Ecumenical Creeds (the Apostles’, Nicene and Athanasian Creeds) and the Lutheran Confessions of the sixteenth century (Luther’s Small and Large Catechisms, the Augsburg Confession, the Apology of the Augsburg Confession, the Smalcald Articles, and the Formula of Concord) as true and faithful expositions of Holy Scripture and Christian doctrine.
The Nathan Road (SUNG EN) Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Lutheran Church—Hong Kong Synod and shares this confession of faith.
The Ten Commandments (Traditional Version)
- The First Commandment You shall have no other gods before Me.
- The Second Commandment You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.
- The Third Commandment Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.
- The Fourth Commandment Honour your father and your mother, that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.
- The Fifth Commandment You shall not murder.
- The Sixth Commandment You shall not commit adultery.
- The Seventh Commandment You shall not steal.
- The Eighth Commandment You shall not give false testimony against your neighbour.
- The Ninth Commandment You shall not covet your neighbour’s house.
- The Tenth Commandment You shall not covet your neighbour’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbour.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

He suffered and was buried. And the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures and ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father. And He will come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead, whose kingdom will have no end.
And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified, who spoke by the prophets. And I believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church, I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins, and I look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.
